The sights of the Kyzylorda city
Kyzylorda City, the administrative center of the Kyzylorda region, the city is located in the south of Kazakhstan 430 kilometers northwest of the city of Shymkent in Turanian lowland on the northeastern edge of the Kyzylkum desert. The city of Kyzylorda is one of the historical centers of the Silk Road. Travel sites organize trips along this route, including visiting the city of Sauraran and Shiganak that are archaeological monuments.
The city was founded in 1818 as an Akmesit fortress. In 1853, the fortress was taken by the imperial army during the Russian conquest of Central Asia and expanded to the city. The fortress received the name Fort -Porovsky. From 1925 to 1929, the city was the capital of the Kazakh SSR.
The city is located on the right bank of the Syrdarya River, which flows through the sand desert.
The water of the river is used for intense irrigation agricultural areas downstream. The climate in the area of the city of Kyzylorda is deserted, characterized by hot and dry long summer and short, but cold winter. Kyzylorda is also known for its production. Hundreds of hectares of rice are grown in this area.
