Information, history

The first mention of the city dates back to the XVI-XVII centuries, when "Kazakh Romeo and Juliet" - "Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu" lived in this region. The city was founded in 1831. 1831-1860. Ayagoz became a district city and was named "Ayagoz" because of the Ayaguz River flowing nearby. After 1860, the city was called Sergiopol, later the Lepsinsky district of the Zhetysu region became the Sergiopol station. Currently, the village of Mamyrsu is located on the site of Sergiopol. The current town is located not far from this village, the town originally arose as a railway station in connection with the creation of the Turkestan-Siberian Railway in 1939.

Soviet period

The railway has made a huge contribution to the development of the city. A telegraph office and the first schools began to be built in the city, and the population began to grow; the construction of diesel locomotives and institutions serving steam locomotives opened the way for the group arrival of young people from villages and towns. An environment worthy of a modern city appeared: the Ayagoz Meat Processing Plant, a creamery and a tannery, known throughout the USSR, worked. Half of these products were supplied to other regions of the USSR. Then the plant for the production of reinforced concrete products and a brewery performed their work. Later, a large military garrison appeared in the city. Since the 70s, having reached the peak of the city's development, active construction work began in Ayagoz, a plan for the development of the city was drawn up, but all this was negatively affected by the collapse of the Soviet Union.
