Travel from Almaty to Charyn Canyon -
Charyn Gorge, Charyn Canyon is a natural object located along the Charyn River. The canyon is located about 195 km east of Almaty in the Almaty region, near the border of China. All objects on the Charyn River are part of the Charyn State National Natural Park, established on April 23, 2004.
The most popular part of the Charyn Canyon is the Valley of Castles. Charyn Canyon is a natural monument, for a long time water and wind have made here the most beautiful natural rock formations of bizarre shapes similar to fairy-tale castles, fantastic cities and other forms of bizarre formations. The depth of the canyon is from 100 to 200 meters. Also in Charyn Park there is the famous ash relict grove, in which the Sogdian ash grows, the tree survived the glaciation era and the turang grove, where the Asian poplar grows.
