Altynsarin Glacier is a mountain valley glacier located on the northern slope of the Zhetysu (Dzungarian) Alatau at the source of the Sara River. The main part is located on the slope of Altynsarin Peak. In 1950-1952, the glacier was explored by an expedition of the geographical sector of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences. The glacier was named after the enlightener I. Altynsarin (1952). The length of the glacier is 1.8 km, the open part is 1.3 km, the area is 1.0 km2. The highest point of the glacier is 3810 m, the lowest is 3250 m. The territory of the glacier is shrinking from year to year.

The Altynsarin glacier is located on the western slope, in the upper reaches of the Kora Gorge in the Dzungarian Alatau ridge, in the Eskeldinsky district of the Almaty region.

Altynsarin Glacier at an altitude of 3450 meters above sea level. The volume of the glacier is 0.064 square kilometers. 3.1 kilometers south of the Altynsarin Glacier is the Sapozhnikov Glacier with a length of 3.3 kilometers. 8.2 kilometers to the southwest is the Tronova Glacier with a length of 5.4 kilometers. 5.8 kilometers to the southwest is the Bezsonov Glacier with a length of 4.9 kilometers. The area of the Altynsarin glacier is shrinking every year. In 1950 - 1952, the glacier was explored by an expedition of the geography sector of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. The glacier was named after Ibray Altynsarin in 1952. There are 1,369 glaciers with a total area of 1,000 square kilometers in the mountains of the Dzungarian Alatau. About 42 cubic kilometers of water have been preserved in glaciers.
