Information -

Lake Shalkar covers an area of about 30 square kilometers, with a maximum depth of up to 12 meters, and is one of the most picturesque bodies of water in the North Kazakhstan region. It is located about 25 km south of the village of Saumalkol and is part of the Kokshetau National Nature Park. The lake is surrounded by hills and pine forests, which give the area a special atmosphere of coziness and privacy. The banks of Shalkar alternate: sometimes soft and sandy, where it is pleasant to walk barefoot, sometimes steep and rocky, opening up picturesque views of the blue expanse of water. In spring and summer, the lake is transformed: birds return, the grass blooms, and the water in the lake becomes crystal clear. The air here is crystal clear, saturated with coniferous phytoncides. Already in the first minutes after arrival you begin to feel how the body relaxes, and thoughts become lighter. The surroundings of the lake are rich in flora and fauna. Here you can meet ducks, herons, and sometimes even deer and roe deer. Mushrooms, blueberries, and strawberries grow in the forests. Fishing is also possible here. Recreation centers, guest houses, and tent sites are available for vacationers. You can go hiking, climb the nearest hills, or just admire the sunset - when the lake becomes a mirror of the sky, and the pines seem to freeze in anticipation of the night.
Lake Shalkar in the Kokshetau National Park is not only a natural landmark, but also a part of the cultural memory of the people. Since ancient times, these lands have been a place of nomads, hunting, and summer camps. People came here to find strength, inspiration, and peace of mind. Now the lake is becoming increasingly popular among tourists, especially those who appreciate the silence, untouched nature, and the absolutely wild atmosphere of real Kazakhstan.
