The best time to visit the nature reserves of Kazakhstan -
Tour from Taraz and Shymkent to the Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve -
The climate in the Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve is like the character of a real highlander: severe, but honest, changeable, but predictable in its own way. It combines the features of a moderate and mountain climate, and sharp temperature changes are not uncommon, but the rule. Everything depends on the altitude: from soft valleys to icy peaks. The climate here is also determined by the complex mountainous terrain and location at the junction of several natural zones. This corner of the Western Tien Shan demonstrates a pronounced altitudinal zonality, where with an increase of every 100 meters the air temperature decreases by about 0.6 ° C, creating a whole palette of microclimatic conditions in a relatively small area. A special microclimate is formed in deep gorges and canyons, such as the famous Aksu gorge (canyon), through which the Aksu River flows. Here, unique "climatic oases" with increased humidity and a more even temperature regime are formed. In summer, such places are 5-7 ° C cooler than in open spaces, and in winter, on the contrary, they are warmer. The climatic conditions of Aksu-Zhabagly create a unique mosaic of habitats, which determines the incredible biodiversity of the reserve. From hot foothills to icy peaks - all these climatic zones exist side by side, forming a unique natural complex of the Western Tien Shan.
