Excursion to Aktogay cave from Taraz city.
Aktogay cave is located near the village of Aktogay in the Zhambyl region. Aktogay cave is located in the Ulken-Aktau mountains, in the Sarasyssuk district. The Aktogay cave is located at an altitude of 460 meters above sea level, not so high and not far from the river which flows near the cave. It is very easy to get into the cave; a small ascent and trail leads to it.
Aktogay cave - tourist information.
The height of the cave is 5 meters and the entrance width is about 12 meters. Aktogay cave goes deep into the mountain range by about 35-40 meters. The central hall of the cave is quite wide, about 14-16 meters. There is also a distant hall in the cave, but it is impossible to get into it since the passage to the distant hall collapsed and blocked the entrance. Small pieces of ceramics dating back to the beginning of the Iron Age were found in the cave. The Aktogay cave has not been fully explored, and therefore more Paleolithic complexes can be discovered here.
How to get Aktagay cave.
To get into the cave, you must overcome 157 kilometers from the city of Taraz, which is approximately 2.5 hours away by car.
