What is required for transit (temporary import) of a vehicle through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan? There are no special permits for vehicles to enter the Republic of Kazakhstan. All necessary documents for entry into the Republic of Kazakhstan are processed at the customs border crossing. Upon entering the Republic of Kazakhstan, drivers must have a driver's license, registration certificate, and a power of attorney to operate the vehicle.
At the checkpoint, drivers must complete the following:
1. Customs declaration. On the second page of the customs declaration, at the bottom, there is a section for vehicle information (make, license plate, engine number, body number, chassis number) (the customs declaration is issued free of charge).
2. Vehicle return undertaking. The return undertaking is a document in which you guarantee to the customs authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan that you will export the vehicle from Kazakhstan within the specified timeframe, excluding the right to sell or donate it within Kazakhstan. The return obligation form is completed in duplicate; one remains with the customs service, the other remains with you. Upon exiting the Republic of Kazakhstan, you must leave the return obligation form at the exit customs point (the return obligation form is issued free of charge, and no duties are charged for the temporary import of a vehicle into the Republic of Kazakhstan).
3. A migration card (issued free of charge).
In accordance with the law on insurance in the Republic of Kazakhstan, vehicle insurance is mandatory. After completing customs and border procedures at the border, upon entering the Republic of Kazakhstan, you must obtain mandatory vehicle insurance at an insurance office. The cost of vehicle insurance depends on the year of manufacture, market value, and make of the vehicle. Approximate cost of car insurance from $25 to $50
