Adventures in Kazakhstan and a tour of Semirechye, 7 roads of Kazakhstan
We invite you to Semirechye or Zhetysu - a historical and geographical region. The land of Semirechye represents plains and mountains, mountain ranges of the Northern Tien Shan and Dzhungarskiy Alatau to lakes Balkhash, Sasyk-Kul and Ala-Kol. The region is named after the seven main rivers Ili, Karatal, Bien, Aksu, Lepsi, Baskan and Sarkan. In the south there is a mountain lake Issyk-Kul which is located on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

Tour itinerary:
Arrival in Almaty, we meet at the airport, transfer to the hotel. We settle in, relax, have breakfast, then go on a city tour, which will include a visit to the 28 Panfilovtsev Park, the Cathedral, the Museum of musical instruments, where we will have a concert that will last about 20 minutes, the National Museum of Kazakhstan. After that, we will go to the Medeo tract.
After reaching the place, we walk around the area near the skating rink and have lunch at a local restaurant. Then we go back down to the city and take the funicular to Kok-Tobe Mountain. We walk around the neighborhood and admire the evening Almaty from a bird's-eye view. After Kok-Tobe Mountain, we return to Almaty and go to the oriental bazaar, next to it is the Rakhat chocolate factory, where we will also visit. After that, we return back to the hotel, have dinner and relax.
Almaty city – Medeo tract (1,691 meters above sea level) – Shymkent ski resort (2,230 meters above sea level) (25 km, 1 hour).
We have breakfast in the morning, then we leave for the Medeo tract. We take a 15-minute cable car ride from Medeo to the Cimbulac Ski Resort. Arriving at the resort of Cimbulak, we will walk to the observation deck with a beautiful view of the mountains, and then go to the third cable car, and climb to the Talgar pass (3200 m).
After reaching the pass, we walk to the Bogdanovich glacier, which is located at an altitude of 3,410 meters above sea level, walk around its surroundings and enjoy the panorama of the snowy peaks of the mountains, the mountains of the Trans-Ili Alatau and the Maloalmatinsk gorge. Next, we will have a picnic on the moraine. Next, we return to the Bolshoy Talgar Pass and take the funicular down to the Medeo tract. After an active rest, we stay at the hotel, where we will have a delicious dinner, rest and sleep.
Tuyuk-Su tract – Almaty city – Big Almaty Lake (2,527 meters above sea level) (43 km).
After breakfast, we leave for BAO. On the way, we will stop at the nursery of birds of prey called "Sunkar".
After visiting the nursery, we will go further to the Great Almaty Lake, we will pass two hydroelectric power plants. After reaching the lake, we walk through the surrounding area, after which we leave for the Dzhusaly-Kezen pass, located at an altitude of 3,377 meters above sea level. After climbing the pass, we stroll through the territory, enjoying the green lawns and alpine vegetation.
We have lunch on the road. We will also see the space station. Next, we return to the traffic police observatory, stay in a guest house, have dinner and relax.
After finishing breakfast, we go for a walk to the place where the Ozernaya River flows into the Great Almaty Lake. The walk will be five kilometers long. After that, we will climb the ancient moraine, our path will run along the old road parallel to the river.
From this place, we will have a beautiful view of the peaks: Tourist, Choi Bolsan, Carnizny, Ozerny and Sovetov Peak, all of them with a height of about four thousand meters above sea level. We have lunch on the road. Next, we return to the guest house, have dinner and relax.
Traffic police Observatory – Almaty city – Kapchagai city – Ili River – Shengeldy village – Sary-Ozek village – Altyn-Emel pass (1,890 meters above sea level) – Baschi village (302 km).
After breakfast, we leave for the Ili River, which originates from the Kapchagai reservoir. After passing Kapchagai, we move to the river through the canyon and descend through the gorge to the Ili River. Next, we will have a 21-kilometer river rafting trip that will last about four hours. After four hours of rafting, we reach the Tamgaly-Tas tract.
We walk along the tract to the petroglyphs, after which we have lunch on the riverbank. After lunch, we drive to the village of Baschi, located 160 kilometers away. On the way to the village, we will stop in an area where there are many turtles living near the Ili River. We will also stop at the Altyn-Emel pass to enjoy the scenic view from the height of the pass. After reaching the village, we stay in a guest house, have dinner and relax.
Baschi village – Beshatyr mounds – Taiga petroglyphs – Singing Dune – Shagan Guest House (254 km).
After we have breakfast, we drive to the Beshatyr mounds. After passing the Mynbulak cordon along the steppe road, after sixty kilometers we reach the burial mounds. Upon reaching the place, we will climb the main of the mounds – Beshatyr, from which there is a picturesque view of the Ili River and a number of mounds stretching towards the river. We look around and take pictures.
After descending from the mound, we walk with an excursion to the Beshatyr menhir stones. Next, our path will lead to the Taiga petroglyphs. Upon arrival, we take a walk in the Taigak gorge, inspect the petroglyphs and take photos. Then, passing through the Mynbulak cordon again, we head to the Singing Dune, which is located 69 kilometers away. When we get to the dune, we walk around the nearby area, then climb the dune itself, take pictures. After visiting the dune, we head to the guest house "Shagan". We have dinner and relax.
Guest house “Shagan" – Aktau Mountains – Baschi village – Koktal village – Zharkent city (190 km).
After breakfast, we leave for the Aktau mountains, located 85 kilometers from the village. After reaching the mountains, we stroll through the surrounding area, admiring the colorful Aktau, which are unusually corroded. Next, we drive to the city of Zharkent, passing through the village of Baschi and the village of Koktal on the way. After driving 190 kilometers, we reach the city, check into a hotel, have dinner and relax.
The city of Zharkent – the village of Koktal – the village of Kieli-Agash – the village of Chunja (123 km).
After finishing breakfast, we go on a tour of the city of Zharkent. First of all, we will visit the Zharkent Mosque, which is an architectural museum, and was built with folk funds at the end of the nineteenth century. Next, we will visit the Russian Orthodox Church and the city park.
After that, we will go to the Zharkentsky bazaar and visit the Kasteev Art Gallery. After lunch at a cafe, we will go to the village of Kieli-Agha. Near the village we will visit an ancient tree, which is more than 700 years old, and the diameter of the tree is 6 meters. We walk through the grove where the tree is located and drive to the village of Chunja. After driving ninety kilometers, we reach the village and check into a guest house, have dinner and relax.
Chunja village – Temerlik Canyon – Aksai village – Charyn River – Charyn Canyon – Zhanalansh village – Saty village – Kolsai Lake-I (1800 meters above sea level) (221 km).
After we finish breakfast, we will leave for Temerlik Canyon. After reaching the canyon, we walk and take pictures, after which we head to the Charyn Canyon. After 140 kilometers from the village of Chunja, we reach the canyon and stroll to the river with the same name Charyn.
We have lunch on the river and move to the first Kolsai lake. After driving 81 kilometers, we reach the lake and check into a guest house. Next, we walk along the shore of the lake and return to the guest house, where we have dinner and relax.
Lake Kolsai-I – Lake Kolsai-II (18 km).
After breakfast, we will walk to the second Kolsai Lake, which is located at an altitude of 2252 meters above sea level. The second Kolsai lake is located 9 kilometers from the first. The trail will run along the left shore of the lake, from it we will have beautiful and picturesque views of the Kolsai lakes and nearby mountains.
The depth of the first Kolsai lake reaches 80 meters, which allows the king trout to live there. After lunch at the second Kolsai lake, we go down to the first, to the guest house. We have dinner and relax.
Lake Kolsai-I – Kurmenty settlement – Chilik River valley (28 km).
After finishing breakfast, we leave for the village of Kurmenty, from where we will have a horseback ride in the Chilik River gorge. First we will walk to the mouth of the Kuturgan River, then we will reach the Bootle Moynok pass and cross the Taldy River on horseback.
In total, our horseback ride will be twelve kilometers in one direction. Then we return to the village of Kurmenty, where our cars are waiting for us and we go back to the guest house on the first Kolsai lake. We have dinner and relax.
Lake Kolsai-I – Lake Kaindy (1,887 meters above sea level) (42 km).
After finishing breakfast, we leave for Kaindy Lake, which is located 21 kilometers from Kolsai Lake. Lake Kaindy differs from others in that the trunks of the Tien Shan fir trees stick out of it, which looks very unusual and beautiful.
After reaching the lake, we walk and go down to the lake itself, take pictures. Then we walk to the mouth of the Kainda River. We have lunch and drive back to the guest house on the first Kolsai lake. We have dinner and relax.
Kolsai Lake-I – Zhalanash village – Kokpek village – Chilik village – Almaty city (291 km).
After we have breakfast, we leave for the city of Almaty. On the way, we will stop in the village of Bayseit for lunch. After reaching the city, we check into the hotel. Free for walking.
Transfer to the airport, departure from Almaty.
