The slopes of the peak are very steep, the mountain is massive and resembles a hill, and not a peak with a pointed top, this hill is very huge and high.

History and information -

The name "Talgar" comes from the city of the same name, located at the foot of the ridge. Since ancient times, the region has been an important part of the Great Silk Road, and the area around the peak is shrouded in legends about caravans crossing the mountains. The first ascent of Talgar Peak took place at the beginning of the 20th century, and since then it has become a landmark for climbers from all over the world. The mountains of the Zailiyskiy Alatau, including Talgar Peak, have been revered by local peoples as sacred since ancient times. They symbolized the power of nature, sustainability and the connection of man with higher powers. The first ascent of Talgar Peak was made in 1938 by a group of climbers led by G. Makartov, there is also information that the ascent was made in 1935 under the leadership of V. Zimin.

Mountaineering and routes -

Talgar Peak attracts climbers of different levels of training. The ascent to the top requires good physical fitness and mountaineering skills. The main routes start from the Big Almaty Lake or the Talgar River above the Big Talgar Pass and are classified as medium and high difficulty routes. The ascent to Talgar Peak takes 4 days, and time is also needed for acclimatization in the region, at least three days. The classic route through the Talgar Gorge is recommended for experienced climbers. Another route, the ascent through the Korzhenevsky Glacier, is a picturesque route with ice and snow sections. The trekking route to the foot of the mountain is suitable for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the mountains without conquering the summit. For a safe ascent, it is important to take into account the weather conditions and be prepared for a changeable climate.

Safety -

When hiking to Talgar Peak (mountain peak), be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides, mountain guides will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely lead you along the route. Do not go to the mountains alone, do not leave the trail, do not go close to rocky cliffs and snow cornices, watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. During the hike, always stay in a group so that everyone is always in sight of each other, always wait for those who lag behind. Do not walk in the mountains at night and in the dark. Calculate your time in the mountains wisely, be sure to consult with mountain guides.     Hello,

    I'm an exchange student at KIMEP. I stay until the end of December in Almaty and I would like to climb the Talgar peak before the end of the season.

    I have climb the Mont-Blanc by the Italy (voie des Papes) and done the 4000m peaks of the Monte-Rosa (Italy)

    Is it still possible ? If yes, when and how much is it ?
