Ozerny is a mountain pass located at an altitude of 3620 meters above sea level, located behind the Big Almaty Lake. A mountain trail leads to the pass, along which you can get to the pass from the lake. The route is not difficult, the slope gradually rises from the lake up, it is very good for walking and active recreation. The mountain valley in front of the pass is wide and very picturesque, the Ozernaya River flows through the valley and here is the Ozerny peak, the height of which is 4130 meters above sea level. Through the pass you can go to the valley of the Chon-Kemin River and then you can make a mountain crossing to Kyrgyzstan to Lake Issyk-Kul in the village of Cholpon-Ata.

Through the pass there is a 4-day mountain route around the city of Almaty, called Almaty Krugosvetka, which goes through the mountains of the city of Almaty without crossing the state border. The route starts from Big Almaty Lake. When traveling through this region, you must have documents proving your identity, since there is a border post in the gorge and the area is considered a border zone with the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
