Lake Yazevoye (Karakol) is the pearl of the Kazakh Altai, a beautiful mountain lake, located at an altitude of 1640 meters above sea level in a picturesque mountain valley of the Katon-Karagay Nature Park, surrounded by beautiful mountains and majestic peaks such as Mount Belukha. In clear weather, the mountain is reflected in the waters of the lake, and it is clearly visible from the mountain valley. The length of the lake is 3 kilometers, the width is 600 meters, the depth is 10 meters, the transparency of the water is 5 meters, the Yazevaya River flows into the lake. The color of the lake is unusually beautiful and changes depending on the daylight, and the color of the water is also given by the algae growing in it. During the day, the lake can change its color several times, even when the sky is covered with clouds and clouds, the water in the lake acquires an unusual metallic color, which is also very beautiful. In addition to the lake, in this area there is such a natural attraction as the Yazevy waterfall.

It is best to travel to Lake Yazevoye from the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, by 4x4 off-road jeeps. You must have all the necessary equipment for setting up a base camp and a field kitchen (tents, sleeping bags, foam rubber camping mats, folding chairs, dishes, portable gas stoves, gas cylinders, etc.). Every summer, a small tourist tent camp is set up on the lake and there are guest houses where you can stay.
