Lake Yazevoye (Karakol) is the pearl of the Kazakh Altai, a beautiful mountain lake, located at an altitude of 1640 meters above sea level in a picturesque mountain valley of the Katon-Karagay Nature Park, surrounded by beautiful mountains and majestic peaks such as Mount Belukha. In clear weather, the mountain is reflected in the waters of the lake, and it is clearly visible from the mountain valley. The length of the lake is 3 kilometers, the width is 600 meters, the depth is 10 meters, the transparency of the water is 5 meters, the Yazevaya River flows into the lake. The color of the lake is unusually beautiful and changes depending on the daylight, and the color of the water is also given by the algae growing in it. During the day, the lake can change its color several times, even when the sky is covered with clouds and clouds, the water in the lake acquires an unusual metallic color, which is also very beautiful. In addition to the lake, in this area there is such a natural attraction as the Yazevy waterfall.
It is best to travel to Lake Yazevoye from the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, by 4x4 off-road jeeps. You must have all the necessary equipment for setting up a base camp and a field kitchen (tents, sleeping bags, foam rubber camping mats, folding chairs, dishes, portable gas stoves, gas cylinders, etc.). Every summer, a small tourist tent camp is set up on the lake and there are guest houses where you can stay.

Transfer: Ust-Kamenogorsk – Kaznakovskaya ferry (175 km). Arrival at Kaznakovskaya ferry, waiting for the ferry.
Transfer to the opposite bank of the Bukhtarma reservoir (4 km). Further transfer: Kaznakovskaya ferry – Katon-Karagay settlement (206 km). Lunch in Katon-Karagay settlement.
Transfer: Katon-Karagay settlement – Uryl settlement (60 km). Stop in Uryl settlement, here you can visit shops. There will be no more shops further along our route.
Transfer: Uryl village - Berel village - bridge over the Belaya Berel River - Karaayryk (Yazovka) village - Yazevoye Lake (50 km). Arrival at Karakol (Yazevoye) Lake. Accommodation in guest houses or tents, dinner, overnight.
Breakfast. Yazevoye Lake is one of the fascinating parts of our journey through the Kazakh Altai. Yazevoye Lake is located in a picturesque valley at an altitude of 1,656 meters above sea level. The length of the lake, from north to south, is 3 kilometers, the width is 600 meters.
The lake is quite warm in the summer, you can swim in it. In clear weather, a magnificent view of the two-headed peak of Mount Belukha 4,506 meters above sea level opens up from the coast. Only one species of fish lives in the lake - ide.
Rest day on Yazevoy Lake. Lunch. Walk to Yazevy Waterfall (5 km). Walks in the vicinity of the waterfall. Return to the lake, dinner, overnight stay.
Breakfast. The color of the water in Lake Yazevoye is yellowish-green, transparency up to 4.2 meters. The color of the water is given by the silt and algae that fill the lake. The banks are formed by sand, pebbles and boulders. Two small unnamed tributaries and springs flow into the lake.
Flowing out of the lake is the Yazevaya River, on which, approximately 2 kilometers downstream, several waterfall cascades have formed.
