One-day hike to the moonlit meadow Chukur and then to the Big Almaty Lake -
Chukur (Shukur) is a picturesque mountain meadow, also known as the Moon Glade, located at an altitude of 2225 meters in the Big Almaty Gorge, among the mountains of the Zailiysky Alatau at the foot of Mount Yumba. The place is very popular, lovers of active recreation and travelers always stay here for the night and even for a few days. A small stream flows through the meadow, from which vacationers take water, the water is absolutely clean, you can safely drink it and you can cook food on this water. The moonlit meadow is a round place, the length of the meadow is 1.5 kilometers, the width is 600 meters. There is no forest on the meadow, the forest begins in the far part of the meadow, in this beautiful forest with century-old spruce trees there are many places to rest, where you can put up a tent and set up a small base camp.
Through the Shukur moon meadow there are mountain routes to Mount Yumba and further to little-known mountain routes that are not very popular. Also from the meadow through a small mountain pass you can go to the Big Almaty Lake. Usually, lovers of active recreation set up a camp here and then travel for several days through the natural attractions surrounding the meadow.
