Shawgar (Shawgar, Shaitobe)-an ancient city, settlement, settlement is located in the Turkestan region, one of many ancient cities on the territory of Kazakhstan. The settlement was first explored in 1974 by a Kazakh archaeological expedition led by K.A. Akishev. Shavgar was the ancient capital of the region, the area of the city was 8.1 hectares, in the central part was the main palace.

The town of Shaugar also has several other names, it is Shavgar-Shafigar-Shaitobe. Additional research of the settlement was carried out in 1990 and in 1977. The research was conducted by such archaeologists as E.A.Smagulov and M.K.Tuyakbayev. Earthen mounds and small hills have been preserved on the site of the city, the city structure, streets, houses are visible, it is especially clearly visible from above. Many ancient cities and settlements have been preserved on the territory of Kazakhstan, all of them are being slowly explored, excavations are being carried out on them, an inventory of structures is being conducted, etc.
