Aktobe Museum of History and Local Lore was created in 1929 and is a cultural and educational institution. The Aktobe Regional Museum of History and Local Lore has departments of nature, archeology, architecture and ethnography. The museum's collections contain over 50,000 different kinds of museum exhibits. Every year about 100,000 people get acquainted with the museum’s exhibition. The museum houses various types of minerals, animals and rare plants. Also stored here are working equipment found during archaeological excavations, ancient ceramics, valuable information about the Kazakh-Kalmyk wars, samples of weapons of that time, things of Eset-batyr, ethnographic materials of Aral-batyr. The exhibition dedicated to folk literature presents such epic works as “Kobylandy”, “Aiman-Sholpan”, “Kyz-Zhibek”, important information about the poet Korkyt, Asan Kaigy, Sherniyaz.
