The monument "Dawn of Freedom" was erected in 2006 to mark the 20th anniversary of the December events and immediately occupied an important place in the cultural and historical memory of the city. His composition is deeply symbolic. In the center stands the figure of a girl with her arms raised – she embodies youth, purity and aspiration for a bright future. Her image reflects the spirit of freedom and the hope of the people who embarked on the path of independence. Behind her, there are stone slabs with bas-reliefs depicting scenes of the December events: students, working youth, and ordinary Almaty residents who came to the square. These images seem to revive memories of courage and determination, of readiness to defend the honor of the motherland. The monument offers a panorama of the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountain.
