History

The bust monument of Sabit Mukanov was erected in 2000, on the eve of the writer's 100th anniversary, which was celebrated under the auspices of UNESCO. This event highlighted the international recognition of Mukanov's contribution to the development of Kazakh literature and culture of the 20th century.

The initiative to create the monument became part of a program to preserve the literary heritage and perpetuate the memory of prominent figures of Kazakhstan. The author of the sculptural image was N. Sobolev, who managed to convey the character, inner concentration and intellectual depth of Sabit Mukanov. The architectural solution of the pedestal was developed by T.
