The Irgiz-Turgay State Natural Reserve is located in the Irgiz district of the Aktobe region, in the northern desert zone. Protected landscapes - river valley. Turgai with swampy meadows and willows, wetlands and vast plains with grass-wormwood and perennial salty vegetation.

Created by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 109 “On the establishment of the state institution“ Irgiz-Turgay State Natural Reserve ”of the Committee for Forestry and Hunting of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan” dated February 14, 2007 in order to protect and restore the Betpak-Dala saiga population lands, steppe and desert landscapes.

Irgiz-Turgay reserve - how to visit.

Of the total area of 52,000 hectares, there is a land plot located on the territory of the Turgay State Nature Reserve, as well as reserve land on the territory of the Irgiz District with a total area of 711,549 hectares.
The Irgiz-Turgay Reserve is the largest specially protected natural area of Kazakhstan among legal entities.
