Travel to the Irgiz-Turgai Nature Reserve from any city in Kazakhstan -
The Irgiz-Turgai Nature Reserve is a state nature reserve located in the Irgiz district Aktobe region. The main goal of the Irgiz-Turgai Nature Reserve is to increase the saiga population. When the reserve opened in 2007, there were approximately 7,000 saigas in the area. Currently, there are 45,000 saigas.
Tourist Information
The reserve is divided into two sections based on geographical features: the Atan Basy and Alakol systems. The Atan Basy system is located at the junction of nine roads. It borders Kyzylorda to the south, Karaganda to the east, and Kostanay Oblast to the south.
How to get there and visit -
Every 7 km, there is a special sign marking the reserve's boundary. The Irgiz-Turgay State Nature Reserve is a specially protected area. Entry is prohibited.
