Mountain waterfalls on the Ayusay River -
Ayusay is a picturesque mountain gorge, also known as "Bear Gorge", is one of the small gorges adjacent to the Big Almaty Gorge. "Ayusay" in Kazakh means "Bear Log". There are 5 small waterfalls in the gorge to which a mountain route (trail) is laid, lovers of active recreation often visit this gorge and climb to these waterfalls. The highest waterfall is 6 meters high, all the waterfalls are formed by the Ayusay River which flows through the gorge, the length of the river is 7 kilometers. Since 2020, construction of tourist infrastructure has been underway in the gorge area, there is a visitor center, a camping camp, a parking lot and an apple orchard. Also, a new mudflow protection dam on the Bolshaya Almatinka River (Big Almaty) was recently built near the gorge.
The ascent to the Ayusay gorge can take you an hour, you can also go on a longer hike along the gorge to its upper reaches to the beginning of the Ayusay River.
