Mountain hike in the Ayusay gorge -

Waterfalls in the Bear Gorge -

The Ayusay River is a small mountain river that flows through the picturesque mountain gorge Ayusay, which in Kazakh means "Bear Gorge". The river is the left tributary of the Big Almaty River, which flows through the picturesque mountain gorge Big Almaty. There are several small waterfalls on the river, to which a mountain path leads and along which you can climb to them. At the entrance to the gorge there is a wooden sculpture depicting three bears, there are places for rest, gazebos and benches, there is also a place for parking cars. This is one of the interesting and easily accessible locations in the mountains of Almaty and you can get here from the city of Almaty in just 20-30 minutes. The uppermost waterfall in the upper reaches of the gorge is accessible only in the summer, the gorge is narrow and deep, so the snow melts here for a very long time. Also, it is not recommended to visit the gorge through which the river flows in the spring, when the snow begins to melt, avalanches are possible. Therefore, it is best to visit the gorge in the summer, when the snow has completely melted.
