Interesting places and infrastructure of the Katon-Karagay National Park -

Jeep tour from the village of Uryl to Lake Yazevoye and the Yazevy waterfall -

A unique wooden bridge across the Belaya Berel River is located in the Katon-Karagay region and has a rich history. Its construction began in 1934 on the instructions of the deputy chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Kazakh ASSR, Comrade Aliyev. The bridge, 32 meters long and 5 meters wide, was built in 1938, 9 kilometers from the village of Berel. The structure is located immediately after the bend of the river, where the flow rate decreases, which was taken into account during the design. This engineering structure, commissioned in the fall of 1938, was operated by the Kok-Kolsky Mining Administration until 1954 for the transportation of tungsten ore. Today, the bridge continues to function, and multi-ton trucks still drive across it, proving the reliability and durability of this historical structure.

History -

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the East Kazakhstan Regional Executive Committee and the Chairman of the Katon-Karagay District Executive Committee, Aliyev noted the need to create a crossing for the Kazredmedgeologorazvedka geological exploration party, which was to study the Kok-Kol tungsten-molybdenum deposit. The deposit was of all-Union importance, but its location in a hard-to-reach mountainous area complicated transportation, since there was no road for 80 kilometers, and only a pack trail led to it. The advance group of geologists crossed the turbulent Belaya Berel River with great difficulty. After the successful assessment of the deposit, the question arose of building a bridge that could withstand the load of loaded vehicles needed to deliver equipment and food.
