The architectural complex "Tekturmas" is an architectural monument of the X-XIV centuries. The complex was formed in the VII-XI centuries before the introduction of Islam. Unfortunately, today the original condition of the complex and the buildings around it have not been preserved. Judging by photographs from the 1890s, the mausoleum was a domed square structure built of burnt bricks. Now a complex has been built on the site and reveals the secrets of the history of the Turks, develops the spirituality of the people, and sets the task of improving tourism. The amazing complex consists of several architectural structures covering the entire period of the region's history.

One of the objects on the Tekturmas complex is the Tekturmas Mausoleum, which is located on top of a hill and is a sacred sacred place and a place of pilgrimage, and is the burial place of the holy Sultan Mahmut. The corners of the mausoleum are decorated with four-sided supports, there are traces of plaster on the walls. Only one decorative terracotta tile was found from the decorative decoration of the mausoleum. According to these data, the famous Russian archaeologist Mikhail Masson believed that the mausoleum was built in the 15th century.

Information -

The architectural complex "Tekturmas" is located in a very beautiful place, on the right bank of the Talas River, on a hill above the surrounding area. From the hill you can see a beautiful view of the city of Taraz. According to historians, this part of the city was the basis of an ancient settlement. In the Middle Ages, Taraz actively developed and became a major trading city on the Great Silk Road. This was facilitated by the geographical location of the Tekturmas Bridge, along which caravans crossed the Talas River in the X-XIII centuries. The remains of the bridge have survived to the present day. The inventive rulers of Taraz created a law on the collection of taxes here, filled the city treasury and increased their power. The "leopard lifting one leg" on the coat of arms of the ancient city was considered a sign of strength and prosperity. Also, other states, avoiding conflict with the rulers of Taraz, sent their ambassadors and tried to cooperate. There is a reason why Mount Tekturmas has become a large-scale cemetery. It is well known that in ancient times people preferred to settle along the river. Since the settlement was convenient for farming, mainly farmers lived here. They buried their relatives on a nearby hill. In this case, such a hill was Mount Tekturmas, located on the right bank of the Talas River and considered the last ridge of the Kyrgyz Alatau.

Today, the reconstruction of the Tekturmas complex is underway in Zhambyl region in order to preserve the cultural and historical heritage and attract tourists to the region. In 2019, in connection with the anniversary of the Zhambyl region, a large construction began here. The thirteen-meter monuments of Aulie Ata Karakhan and the ten-meter monument of Laukh decorated the surroundings of Taraz. At the same time, a large staircase and observation decks were built, and other architectural elements were created. In addition, fourteen monuments with the names of the rulers in the form of khan tents were installed. Today, the architectural complex has become one of the most popular places of pilgrimage for believers and visitors to the city. Traditionally, newlyweds often come to the complex to worship the ancestors who rest here, say a prayer and receive a blessing.
