Karlytau Peak is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 4170 meters above sea level, famous for the fact that here outdoor enthusiasts engage in such sports as backcountry and ski touring. The summit is mainly snow and ice, with rock outcrops on the northern side. The mountain is accessible for mountain hikes in the summer, the path to the summit usually takes 1 day and passes along the Bogdanovich glacier from the Bolshoy Talgrasky Pass to which the Medeo-Shymbulak cable car leads, which begins just below the Medeo sports complex in the Medeu tract. This route is suitable for prepared travelers in good physical shape. The most important rule of being on the Karlytau peak is not to approach the snow cornice on the top of the mountain, there is a high probability of its collapse. The difficulty category of the peak is 5A, 5B. The first ascent to the top was made in 1965 by a team of Kazakh climbers of the Spartak Sports Society. From the top, a beautiful panorama of the city of Almaty, and the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains and the Ile-Alatau Park opens. This direction is very popular, the Talgar Pass is open in the winter, just below the pass there is a high-mountain base Shymbulak where a ski trail operates that goes from the pass.
