Turgen is a picturesque mountain river, a place for active and family recreation, here you can stay in places organized for recreation in gazebos, yurt camps. The river flows through the beautiful Turgen mountain gorge, and there are also many cafes along the river where you can eat. Near the river is the famous Medvezhiy waterfall, which is also a local natural landmark. If you go along the Turgen River up the gorge, you can reach the high-mountain plateau of Asy, on which the Assy-Turgen Observatory and the Asy River are located. In the observatory, at night, you can watch the stars through a telescope. People come here to see all the sights at once, it can take you a whole day, you can go for two days with a stop for the night in a tent camp on the Asy plateau. On the Asy plateau you can observe the life of nomads, here in the summer time huge herds of cows, horses, goats and sheep graze.

Information -

The Turgen River is formed by glaciers and waters flowing from the moraine. Rafting is possible on the river, our company will easily organize it for you. The river is formed by the confluence of the Shyn Turgen, Turgen (Ortaturgen) and Kishi Turgen rivers. The total length of the river is 116 km. Due to the use of drinking water for agricultural purposes, the river often does not reach the Ili River. On the bank of the river is the Tauturgen mineral water plant. The valley of the Turgen River is a famous recreation area in the country. Near the villages of Turgen, Karakemer and Akshi there are many Saki burial mounds. The villages of Tauturgen, Turgen, Karakemer, Baltabay, Akshi, Kairat, Kush are located in the river valley. In the upper reaches of the river are the Almaty Nature Reserve and the Zailiyskiy Alatau National Park, Ile-Alatau, and in the lower reaches - the Karashengel Nature Reserve.
