Information and history -

The history of the T1 station dates back to the middle of the 20th century, when active research into the glaciers of Central Asia began. It was founded to monitor the Tuyuk-Su glacier, which is one of the most studied glaciers in the region. The station has become a center for glaciological research, where scientists from different countries have monitored and continue to monitor the state of glaciers, studying their behavior and role in the water supply of low-lying areas.

The main goal of the station is long-term observations of changes in the mass, movement and volume of glaciers. This data is critical for understanding the effects of global warming. Regular measurements of the Tuyuk-Su glacier allow us to track how climate change affects its melting, as well as predict possible risks, such as floods and mudflows caused by glacial lake outbursts. The area around the station is an open-air natural museum. The harsh but amazingly beautiful mountain landscape attracts tourists, climbers and researchers.

Station T1 Tuyuk-Su is not only a scientific, but also an educational center. It hosts practical classes for students-hydrologists and glaciologists, and organizes international expeditions. It plays an important role in raising awareness of the need to protect glaciers and mountain ecosystems. In the context of modern climate challenges, the importance of stations such as T1 Tuyuk-Su cannot be overestimated. Their research helps us better understand the global processes that occur on our planet and develop measures to adapt to changing natural conditions.
