Upper reaches of the Small Almaty gorge -
Hiking to Mynjylky and Shymbulak bases -
Mynjylky is a picturesque mountain tract, located at an altitude of over 3000 meters above sea level, translated from the Kazakh language Mynjylky means a thousand horses. The Malaya Almatinka River flows through the mountain tract and the tract is very popular with lovers of mountain hiking and active recreation. You can get to the tract through the Medeu tract, the ascent to the tract begins from the high-mountain base Shymbulak, to which a cable car leads from Medeu. Above the Mynjylky tract there is a high-mountain glaciological station Tuyuk-Su, to which a mountain road leads, along which you can walk to the station. The tract is located above the forest belt, here you can find only small grass, the landscape is a pile of rocks. In the tract there is a high-mountain mudflow protection dam, 300 meters long and 17 meters high. There is also a high-mountain weather station, which is also called Mynzhylky and where weather observations have been conducted since 1936.

The Mynjylky tract is located 28 kilometers from the city of Almaty along Nazarbayev Avenue in the Small Almaty Gorge, Medeu District, Almaty Region, Republic of Kazakhstan.
