Peak Igli Tuyuksu (Needle) is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 4213 meters above sea level in the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains in the Tuyuksu mountain cirque. The summit is very popular among outdoor enthusiasts, mountain hikers, mountaineers and rock climbers. The ascent to the summit begins from the high-mountain glaciological station T1 Tuyuk-Su and can last 3 days. The first day is required to climb from the high-mountain base Shymbulak to the Tuyuk-Su station T1 and then climb the Tuyuksu glacier to the first camp site, where you need to spend the night. On the second day, early in the morning, the ascent to the peak begins through the Igli Tuyuksu pass or through the Tuyuksu pass, depending on the previously chosen route and its complexity. After the ascent, descent to the camp overnight and on the 3rd day descent to the city of Almaty along the ascent route. Please note that this peak is only accessible to well-trained climbers and travelers (difficulty 2B, 4A), there are ice cracks, steep ascents and descents on the route. Teamwork skills and the ability to use special mountaineering equipment (helmets, ice axes, ropes, hooks, etc.) are also required.

The Igli Tuyuksu peak (Needle) is located in the upper reaches of the Small Almaty gorge in the mountains of the city of Almaty, Ile-Alatau Nature Park, Medeu district, Almaty region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

Safety -

When hiking to the peak "Needles Tuyuk-Su" (Tuyuksu), be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides. Mountain guides will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely lead you along the route. Do not go to the mountains alone, do not leave the path (route), do not go close to rocky cliffs, snow cornices, turbulent rivers and mountain lakes. Correctly calculate your physical strength for being in the mountains, if you feel unwell, be able to stop in time and turn back, inform the mountain guide about your condition. Watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. During the hike, always stay in a group so that everyone is always in sight of each other, always wait for those who lag behind. Do not walk in the mountains at night and in the dark. Calculate your time in the mountains wisely, try to return in the afternoon before dusk and complete darkness, be sure to consult with mountain guides about this. Use special sportswear and equipment for hiking in the mountains. Do not walk in the mountains in flip-flops, slippers and light soft shoes, take care of your feet, your feet should be protected by reliable mountain shoes for trekking and hiking with ankle fixation. Do not forget about altitude sickness and the need for acclimatization in a mountainous area for a further comfortable stay in the mountains. Also in the spring (May) there are ticks in the mountains, we recommend not visiting the mountains during this period.
