Information -
The city of Tekeli appeared in Soviet times, when lead and zinc deposits began to be developed here in the late 30s of the last century. In 1939, the Tekeli lead and zinc plant was founded, and a workers' settlement grew up around it, which soon became a city. In those years, specialists from all over the Union came here, and Tekeli became a symbol of the industrial development of the mountain wealth of Zhetysu. After the collapse of the USSR, the mining industry declined, and the city went through hard times, but today it is gradually opening up again - this time as a point of attraction for tourists and researchers. The surroundings of Tekeli are truly unique. These places have become popular routes for hiking and horseback riding, as well as for ecotourism.
Today, Tekeli is becoming increasingly popular among tourists. People come here for mountain walks, for clean air, for getting to know history and sacred places. Some find rest and silence here, some find inspiration, and some discover a whole world full of mountain lakes, ancient settlements and wildlife. Tekeli is the gateway to the Dzungarian Alatau, and everyone who comes here will take with them a piece of its beauty and spirit.
