The Koktobe TV Tower is one of the most recognizable symbols of Almaty and the entire Southern capital of Kazakhstan. It is located on the slopes of Kok Tobe Mountain, at an altitude of about 1,130 meters above sea level, making it visible from almost anywhere in the city. The slender structure rushes into the sky, as if connecting the city, mountains, sky, modernity and nature. The construction of the TV tower began in 1975 and was completed in 1983. It became one of the largest engineering projects of its time in the USSR, the TV tower is visible from the slopes of the Almaty mountains. The height of the tower is 371.5 meters, and if sea level is taken into account, then the mark of its top reaches almost 1,450 meters, which makes it one of the highest located and tallest TV towers in the world. Engineers and architects took into account the seismic activity of the region when designing. The design of the TV tower is capable of withstanding strong earthquakes up to 10 points on the Richter scale, which is a unique technical achievement. The tower is made of durable reinforced concrete, and its base is embedded in an array of rocks, which provides exceptional stability.

The Koktobe TV Tower is located on Kok-Tobe Mountain at 35 Omarova Street, at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, next to Kok-Tobe Park, Medeu district, Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main function of the Koktobe TV Tower is to provide radio broadcasting and television for Almaty and the surrounding areas. The height of the tower is 372 m, it has two high-speed elevators and a special lifting mechanism. The metal part of the mast is lined with 18.5 m profiled aluminum panels, some sides are separated by a stained-glass window. The city's sightseeing area is located at an altitude of 146 m. This site is currently closed to the public. The department of Technical Supervision of antenna-feeder systems is located at an altitude of 252 m. The tower ends with a sectional metal antenna shelf 114 m high. Each section has antennas for television and radio broadcasting. It broadcasts via antennas within a radius of 80-190 km on 5 TV channels and 4 radio channels. On the ground floor of the house for maintenance there are broadcasting stations, offices equipped with communication devices and controls. The Koktobe TV tower is a strategic facility and is under guard, access to the territory of the TV tower and to the technical rooms of the TV tower is prohibited.
