Alma-Arasan is a beautiful mountain gorge, located at an altitude of 1785 meters above sea level. The gorge is famous for the fact that there is a thermal radon hot water spring, where you can take a hot bath and relax. Translated from the Kazakh language, Alma-Arasan means "apple hot spring". The gorge also attracts lovers of active recreation with its mountain routes. The picturesque Prokhodnaya River flows through the gorge, there is a waterfall called Maiden Tears, and higher up the gorge is the Prokhodnoy mountain pass (Almaty) at an altitude of 3600 meters above sea level. Also, near the gorge there is another equally beautiful and picturesque mountain Big Almaty gorge (Bolshoe Almatinskoe), through which the Bolshaya Almatinka River (Big Almaty) flows, in the upper reaches of which is the Big Almaty Lake (BAL) (2510). Big Almaty Peak (BAP) (3680) and the Tien Shan Astronomical Observatory (2735).

The Alma-Arasan gorge is ideal for a family vacation in nature. Here you can take a walk, breathe in the fresh mountain air and recharge your batteries with the mystical power of nature. You can choose an interesting activity in the gorge, for example, go hiking, relax in one of the cafes near the Maiden Tears waterfall or soak in the hot springs. The water temperature in the hot springs ranges from 20.5 to 39.7 degrees. The healing properties of the water are similar to the famous French healing water of the Pyrenean type.

How to get there, visit -

Alma-Arasan Gorge is located 15 kilometers from Almaty up Dulati Street, (Navoi), Almaty Region, Republic of Kazakhstan. At the intersection of Al-Farabi and Navoi (Dulati) Streets there is a bus stop from which buses #28, 108, 211 will take you up the gorge to the stop "Alma-Arasan Sanatorium".
