Route along the Prokhodnoye Gorge to the Dzhusaly-Kezen Pass and further to Lake Dikoye -
Prokhodnoye Gorge is a picturesque mountain gorge located in the Zailiyskiy Alatau Mountains between the Bolshoy Almaty Gorge and the Kargalinka Gorge. The mountain river Prokhodnaya flows through the gorge, which originates on the glaciers in the upper reaches of the gorge and is the right tributary of the Bolshaya Almatinka River. A mountain route runs along the gorge, which will take you to the Dzhusaly-Kezen Pass (3333), through the Terra glade (2640). From the pass you can climb to the Bolshoy Almatinsky Peak (3680) and to the Tourist Peak (3954), there is also a route further along the gorge to Lake Dikoye (Scotland) (3447), from which the Dikaya River originates. This route is usually covered in two days with an overnight stay in the Terra glade. If you go further towards Kyrgyzstan, you can reach the Almaty Pass (3595). You cannot move further along the pass, the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan runs, there are no checkpoints here and illegal border crossing is an offense.

Prokhodnoye Gorge is located 10 kilometers from Almaty in the Zailiysky Alatau Mountains, up Dulati Street above Al-Farabi Avenue, above the Alma-Arasan resort, Bostandyk District, Almaty Region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

In ancient times, the route through the Prokhodnoye gorge was used as a caravan route to Kyrgyzstan and further to China, along which lines of horses and people moved, carrying their goods for sale to neighboring countries and back. The Terra glade, which is located in the gorge, is very popular among lovers of active recreation and hiking in the mountains. From the glade there are several radial routes to local natural attractions such as Mount Vechernyaya (3410), Mount Pila (3790). During the Soviet era, mountain crossings to Kyrgyzstan through the Almaty passes to the Chon-Kemin River valley and further to Lake Issyk-Kul and in the opposite direction were made along the gorge. In the Prokhodnoye gorge there are famous thermal hot radon springs, where you can spend time and relax, the springs are located just above the Alma-Arasan resort.

When hiking in the Prokhodnoye Gorge, be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides and conductors, they will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely lead you along the route. Do not go to the mountains alone, do not leave the path, do not go close to the cliffs, watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. Do not walk in the mountains at night and in the dark. Calculate your time in the mountains wisely.
