The village of Toraigyr is a small picturesque village and the administrative center of the Bayanaul district, part of the Bayanaul National Park, near the famous lake Toraigyr and the mausoleum of Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov, the village was named in his honor. The history of the village begins in 1907, when a small village arose on a wintering site; a full-fledged village was formed here in 1957. The population of the village is 632 people. The climate here is continental. The average temperature in January is -11 – -13 °C, in July +22 – +24 °C. The average annual precipitation is 350-400 mm, the main amount of which corresponds to the periods March-May and November-December. Stable snow cover forms in the last ten days of November and ends in the second ten days of March.
