Mountain peak Serkebay is a low mountain, located at an altitude of 2160 meters above sea level in the mountains of the Zailiysky Alatau. The mountain is not very popular, but a mountain route leads to it from the Medeo sports complex, which is located in the Medeu tract. The path to the mountain peak begins behind the Kazakh Aul restaurant and runs along a mountain ridge surrounded by a coniferous forest and a birch grove. The length of the route is 6 kilometers, the round trip can take you from 4 to 6 hours depending on your physical fitness. From the top of the mountain, a mountain panorama opens onto the Kimasar gorge, along which you can climb to the Furmanov peak. You can also see the Butakov gorge from the mountain, which contains the famous Butakov waterfalls and the mountains of the Ile-Alatau Mountain Park. From the top of the mountain, you can go down the same route that brought you to the mountain or go down to the small Kimasar pass and from there further along the path go down to the Kimasar gorge and then to Medeo.

Mount Serkebay is located above the Medeo tract in the Ile-Alatau Mountain Park, between the Kimasar gorge and the Butakovskoe gorge, Medeu district, Almaty region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

Safety -

When hiking to Serkebay Peak (mountain), be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides. Mountain guides will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely lead you along the route. Do not hike alone, do not leave the trail, do not go close to rocky cliffs, snow cornices and turbulent rivers. Watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. During the hike, always stay in a group so that everyone is always in sight of each other, always wait for those who lag behind. Do not hike in the mountains at night or in the dark. Calculate your time in the mountains wisely, try to return in the afternoon before dusk and complete darkness, be sure to consult with mountain guides about this. Use special sportswear and equipment for hiking in the mountains. Do not go to the mountains in flip-flops, slippers and light soft shoes, take care of your feet, your feet should be protected by reliable mountain shoes for trekking and hiking with ankle fixation. Do not forget about mountain sickness and the need for acclimatization in a mountainous area for a further comfortable stay in the mountains.
