Chkalov Peak is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 3892 meters above sea level in the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains. The mountain is named after the legendary Soviet test pilot Valery Chkalov. This peak has become a symbol of courage, bravery and striving for new heights, both in the sky and in the mountains. The peak is very popular among outdoor enthusiasts, mountain hikers, climbers and rock climbers. There are three routes to the mountain of difficulty category 1B, 2B, 3A, the route requires skills in working with special mountaineering equipment, suitable for both experienced climbers and novice pioneers. The hike to the peak starts from the Shymbulak high-mountain base and goes through the Big Talgar mountain pass, then goes along the Bogdanovich glacier. You can get to the pass by the Medeo-Chimbulak cable car from the Medeo tract just below the Medeo sports complex. From the top of the mountain, a beautiful mountain panorama opens up to the Ile-Alatau National Park, you will see such mountain peaks as: Nurslutan (Komsomola) peak, Shkolnik peak and the Left Talgar gorge.

Chkalov Peak was named after Valery Pavlovich Chkalov (1904-1938), an outstanding Soviet test pilot and Hero of the Soviet Union. Chkalov became famous for his record-breaking flights, including the first non-stop flight across the North Pole from Moscow to Vancouver (USA) in 1937. His name has become a symbol of courage, innovation, and the desire to conquer new heights. The peak was named in 1938, shortly after Chkalov's tragic death. This became a tribute to a man who inspired millions of people with his exploits. Like any mountain climb, climbing Chkalov Peak requires good physical fitness and appropriate equipment. It is necessary to take into account weather conditions, as the weather in the highlands can change dramatically. It is recommended to climb in a group or with an experienced guide, especially in winter.
