Travel to the Kurtogay tract -
Kurtogay is a picturesque tract, also a canyon 16 kilometers long, the most beautiful natural attraction of the Almaty region. The grandiose canyon-tract is formed by the Charyn River, which flows through the Charyn Nature Park and Reserve. At the bottom of the canyon along the river grows the famous Sogdian ash, which is a relict ancient tree on planet Earth. There are places where you can stop near the river and set up a campsite, there are also several panoramic points where you can look at the tract and take beautiful photos. The height at which the Kurtogay tract is located is 1086 meters above sea level.

The Kurtogay tract-canyon is located 200 kilometers from Almaty, 700 meters from the Kegen Bridge over the Charyn River, on the territory of the Charyn Park, Enbekshikazak district, Kegen district, Almaty region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Kurtogay Canyon is composed of sedimentary rocks, the age of which is 12 million years. The canyon is very beautiful, it is not possible to go down to the river at the observation point from panoramic points, there are very steep slopes. Many wild animals live in the canyon, their paths are visible on the slopes of the canyon, and turanga and barberry trees also grow along the river. The beginning of the canyon is in the upper reaches of the Temirlik River and ends at the 5th kilometer before the bridge on the Almaty-Zharkent road. Orange-pink rocks, formed by the impact of rain, snow and wind, create a unique shape and transfer anyone to the world of monuments - palaces, towers, minarets, like in a fairy tale. The depth of the gorge reaches 100 meters.
