What to visit and what to see in Charyn National Park -
Eco tourism in national natural parks and reserves of Kazakhstan -
Temirlik Canyon is one of the most underrated pearls of Charyn National Park. It is like the younger brother of the famous Valley of Castles, only not pretentious, but soulful, hidden from view, secluded and wild. Just 10 kilometers from the tourist routes, a completely different world begins - a world where the hot sun illuminates the steep red cliffs, the river flows between ancient trees, and the aroma of steppe grasses and pollen hovers in the air. Stretching for 21 kilometers, this canyon cuts into the ground to a depth of 160 meters, creating a unique landscape with steep reddish cliffs and a green strip of forest along the Temirlik River. This river seems to have carved its bed in the stone, leaving behind a narrow green corridor of life - a real oasis among the red rocks. Sogdian ash grows along the banks - a relict tree that has been preserved here since the Ice Age. Poplars, willows, barberries, tamarisks are mixed in with them - all this creates shade, coolness and a feeling as if you have entered a hidden valley with a secret. There are three Temerlik canyons in total, which are called the "first Temerlik Canyon" with a length of 3 kilometers, the "second Temerlik Canyon" stretches for as much as 10 kilometers and the "third Temerlik Canyon" is 8 kilometers long.

Information -
For travelers, the Temirlik Canyon offers unique opportunities for outdoor recreation. Here you can set up a camp in the shade of trees, walk along the river, enjoy the singing of birds and the sounds of nature. The climate here is harsh, like everywhere in the Charyn region. It can be hot during the day - up to +35°C, especially in summer. In winter, the frosts are not so severe, but still noticeable, and snow is rare here and does not linger for long. Spring is the best time, when the greenery is fresh, the water in the river is full, and the birds are especially active. Autumn is also beautiful here - everything burns out to ochre-golden tones, and the air becomes transparently dry. The fauna here is also impressive. In the silence, you can notice hares, foxes, even mountain goats on the slopes, and in the sky - a golden eagle or a bearded vulture. At night you can hear owls, and during the day snake eagles soar overhead. Everything is alive, everything is moving – but it seems not to notice you if you come with respect.
Temirlik is a place for those who seek silence and space. There will be no crowds, signs or souvenirs. But there will be wind in your hair, soft rustling of leaves and ancient calm that only real nature gives. The canyon does not scream – it whispers. And if you listen, it will tell you its story.
