A trip from Almaty to the Bartogai reservoir through the Asy plateau -
The route according to the program: Almaty – Issyk village – Turgen Gorge – Batan forestry – Shenturgen River – Asy plateau – Asy pass (2510 meters above sea level) – Assy-Turgen Observatory – Asy farm – Zhaman-Uy tract (clay remnants near the Asy River) - Alabaita Mountains – Bartogay reservoir – Kokpek village – Charyn Canyon – Valley of Castles – Kokpek village – Kokpek Gorge – Bayseit village – Chilik village – Almaty
Asy is a high-altitude plateau, a landmark of the Almaty region located in the Enbekshi district above the Turgen mountain gorge at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level. There is a mountain road along the Asy plateau that goes to the Bartogay reservoir, it is possible to drive here only by 4x4 jeep. The Asy Plateau is very popular among the local population and visitors from abroad.
There is a high-altitude Assy-Turgen observatory for stargazing on the Asy plateau, here you can look at the stars with a telescope if you decide to spend the night on the plateau. A small and very picturesque river Asy flows along the plateau. The Asy Plateau is part of the Ile-Alatau National Natural Park, the entire territory is under protection, fishing and hunting are prohibited here. Also, on the Asy plateau, it is necessary to follow the rules of visiting not to litter, clean up the garbage, do not make bonfires.

Tour itinerary:
The excursion to the Asa plateau includes visits to such sights and places as: Issyk Mounds, Issyk Museum, Turgen Mountain gorge, Batan mountain tract, Ile-Alatau Nature Reserve. On the Asy plateau we will stop for a walk and take pictures, here we will see how the nomads live with their herds of animals, horses, goats and sheep. On the way we will pass a high-altitude astronomical observatory, which is located on a plateau. Lunch on the Asy plateau. Then we will go along the Asa plateau along the mountain road to the Zhaman-Uy tract, which means "bad house" in Kazakh, here we will stop for the night. Dinner and overnight in tents.
Tomorrow in the camp: a walk in the Zhaman-Uy tract, here we will take photos of the tract, take a walk along the tract, the tract is red in color, which gives it an unusual appearance. Next we go to the Bartogai reservoir. Stop at the artesian water source. A walk to the Bartogai reservoir, photographing. Then we go to Charyn Canyon, descent to the valley of castles, walk along Charyn Canyon. Lunch at Charyn Canyon. Next, we will drive to the panoramic points of the Charyn Canyon to take photos. Return to the city of Almaty.
