Little-known mountain peaks in the Big Almaty gorge -
Turan Peak is a mountain peak, this is not its official name, it is also known as the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) peak, located at an altitude of 3970 meters above sea level, between the Tourist peak and the Karniznaya peak. The mountain was named Turan Peak by a group of young climbers in 2006 from the University of Turan who named the mountain in honor of their university after conquering the peak. The first ascent to the peak took place in 1952 by a group of climbers, which included V. Vekshin and A. Maryashev. On the way to the IYaF peak, you will drive along the road to the upper reaches of the Big Almaty Gorge along the Bolshaya Almatinka River, along the way you will see the Big Almaty Lake, the high-mountain astronomical observatory of the Tien Shan, the Dzhusaly-Kezen pass and the Cosmostation. Also here is the Big Almaty peak, to which there is a mountain route from the pass and the Prokhodnoye gorge, which also has its own natural attractions and places for active recreation.

Turan peak is located in the upper reaches of the Big Almaty gorge behind the Dzhusaly-Kezen pass, where the Cosmostation is located, next to the Tourist peak, Almaty region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

When hiking to Turan Peak (Institute of Nuclear Physics), be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides, they will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely lead you along the route. Do not go to the mountains alone, do not leave the path, do not go close to the cliffs, watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. Do not walk in the mountains at night and in the dark. Calculate your time in the mountains wisely.
