Dzhusaly-Kezen is a picturesque mountain pass, located at an altitude of 3337 meters above sea level, is part of the Zailiysky Alatau mountains (Northern Tien Shan). On the pass there is a high-mountain scientific station of cosmic rays (VNSKL), for the study of cosmic particles, also on the pass there is a mountain peak Big Almaty (3680) and peak Tourist (3954). A mountain route leads to both peaks. An asphalt road leads to the pass, you can walk here or climb by bicycle or electric bike. Taxis also run along the gorge. Travel by private car in the gorge is prohibited due to environmental restrictions. Below the pass is the famous Big Almaty Lake (2500) and the Tien Shan Astronomical Observatory (2600).

There is a border checkpoint on the way to the Dzhusaly-Kezen Pass, so when traveling through the park you must have documents proving your identity. At the checkpoint, you must register in a special book. We recommend traveling to the pass by car (taxi) and then on the pass there are three routes where you can go for a walk, to the peak Tourist (3965), peak Bolshoy Almatinsky (3864), or take a walk to the high-mountain lake Primul. Also, through the pass there is a mountain passage from the gorge Bolshoe Almatinskoye to the gorge of the river Prokhodnaya and further to the gorge Alma-Arasan. We recommend walking in the park only in the presence of a mountain guide who knows the area and local routes well. It is necessary to travel to the pass in the first half of the day, your hike must begin early in the morning. Calculate your time in the mountains, be sure to monitor the weather, choose sunny clear days. Do not move around the mountains in the dark, do not leave the route (trail), do not go close to steep slopes, observe safety precautions, do not travel in the mountains alone.
