Mountain trails-routes for hiking and trekking in the Almaty region -
Karnizny Peak is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 4017 meters above sea level, in the upper reaches of the Prokhodnoye gorge immediately behind the Tourist peak. The route to the mountain begins both from this gorge within 4 days, and from the Big Almaty gorge if you get by car to the Cosmostation, which is located on the Dzhusaly-Kezen pass, within two days. Both routes are interesting and picturesque. If you enter from the Prokhodnoye gorge, you will need three days for this and it starts from the lower reaches of the gorge, where the Alma-Arasan sanatorium is located, moving up the gorge you will pass the thermal hot water springs of Alma-Arasan, the Maiden's Tears waterfall and spend the night in the picturesque Terra glade, the next day you will go further along the route to the Karnizny peak and spend the night on the Dikoe lake (Scotland). On the third day, ascent to the top and then descent down to the Terra glade with an overnight stay there.
From the Big Almaty gorge, the path to the Karnizny peak is shorter and will take us two days through the Almaty-Alagir Mountain pass, if you start it from the Dzhusaly-Kezen pass and with an overnight stay on the Dikoe Wild Lake (Scotland). Along this route you will also see such attractions as the Big Almaty Gorge, the Big Almaty River, the Big Almaty Lake and the Tien Shan Astronomical Observatory. From the Karnizny peak, a beautiful mountain panorama of the Zailiysky Alatau mountains opens up, you will see the Tourist peak, the Soviet peak, the Young Guard peak, the Turan peak, the Almaty-Alagir peak, the Giant peak. A trip to the Karnizny peak is the best time to spend in the mountains for several days and an exciting mountain journey that will not leave you indifferent, you will fully enjoy the beauty of the local mountains and the nature of the Almaty region and get an unforgettable experience of climbing.
The descent from the Karnizny peak can be done along another interesting route to the Ozernaya River valley to the foot of the Soviet peak and then descend along the road to the Big Almaty Lake. From the lake, they usually leave for the city of Almaty by car without spending the night.
