Lake Tekekol - a mirror of silence in the heart of the Burabay steppe

Small and cozy places to relax in the Burabay district -

Winter fishing and recreation in the Burabay National Park -

Lake Tekekol is an ideal circle of the purest water, framed by a deserted area and many wild places for recreation and camping. Unlike popular tourist places, there are no noisy beaches here, but there is an amazing feeling as if you have discovered something personal, intimate. The water here is so transparent that in calm weather it seems as if you are looking through a magnifying glass - you can see every pebble on the bottom, every fish swimming by. The lake is home to such species of fish as roach, perch, bream, carp, tench, pike perch, which makes it attractive for fishing, but fishing is allowed in the lake only in the fall. In the shadow of its more famous neighbors - Lake Borovoye and Lake Big Chebachye - Lake Tekekol is their younger brother and a real surprise for those who seek solitude and the special magic of Kazakhstan's nature. Its name translates as "Goat Lake", on its shore there are two recreation centers. The lake is part of the Burabay National Park and part of the Kokshetau Lakes, the length of the lake is 1.5 kilometers, the width is 1.2 kilometers, the depth is 3 meters.

How to get there and visit -

Information -

The special charm of Lake Tekekol is given by its shores - in some places flat, with soft sand, in others abruptly ending with granite boulders that you just want to explore. In summer you can meet fishermen sitting quietly with fishing rods, in autumn - photographers catching the reflection of golden crowns in the mirror of the water, in winter - lovers of solitary walks on the crispy snow. They say that it is on this lake that you can feel the spirit of Burabay - unceremonious, real. There are no restaurants or attractions here, but there are benches under the pine trees, where you can spend hours watching the wind draw patterns on the water, and listen to the birds talking in the branches. On the western shore there is a small clearing - an ideal place for a picnic. And if you go around the lake along the path, you can find a spring with amazingly tasty water, which the locals consider healing. The best time to visit is early morning, when the mist is spreading over the water, or evening, when the sunset paints the surface in gold and pink tones. Come here for peace, for inspiration, for that special feeling that only comes from places where nature speaks to you alone.
Tekekol is a lake that is rarely talked about, but which is hard to forget once you have been there. Its whole poetry is in this modesty. No noise is needed to be beautiful. No greatness is needed to touch the heart. Sometimes, just water, sky and peace are enough.
