Where to go on a weekend in the mountains of Almaty -

Mynzhilky Peak is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 3630 meters above sea level in the Zailiysky Alatau Mountains, or more precisely in a mountain spur that separates the Small Almaty Gorge and the Gorelnik Gorge. The mountain is very popular among fans of active recreation and weekend mountain hikes. The hike to the peak starts from the Shymbulak high-mountain base and goes along the main road that leads up to the Mynzhilky tract. There is a second route that goes along the right side of the gorge across the bridge over the river and the Tuyuksu alpine camp. The route along the road is more convenient and faster, walking along the road is much easier and more pleasant. Next to Mynzhilky Peak is the Tuyuksu Gate Peak, which can also be climbed along the way. The peak offers a beautiful mountain panorama, you can see the city of Almaty, Lake Titov and Tereshkova Peak. If you wish, you can go down to the Gorelnik gorge and go down to its beginning in the Maloye Almatinskoye gorge, where the Gorelnik hot water spring is located. You can also go down the mountain ridge towards the Medic peak and visit Mount Pribornaya and also go down from it to the Gorelnik gorge, or move further along the ridge to Mount Chasovaya. This route is best taken in the summer, in winter this route is also available for experienced travelers.

Mynzhilky peak is located in the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountains on the mountain ridge between the Gorelnik gorge and the Maloye Almatinskoye gorge, Ile-Alatau National Park, Medeu district, Almaty region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

Safety in the mountains -

When hiking to Mynzhilky peak, be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides. Mountain guides will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely lead you along the route. Do not hike alone, do not leave the trail, do not go close to rocky cliffs, snow cornices and turbulent rivers. Properly calculate your physical strength for staying in the mountains, if you feel unwell, be able to stop in time and turn back, inform the mountain guide about your condition. Monitor the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. During the hike, always stay in a group so that everyone is always in sight of each other, always wait for those who lag behind. Do not hike in the mountains at night or in the dark. Plan your time in the mountains wisely, try to return in the afternoon before dusk and complete darkness, be sure to consult with mountain guides about this. Use special sportswear and equipment for hiking in the mountains. Do not go to the mountains in flip-flops, slippers and light soft shoes, take care of your feet, your feet should be protected by reliable mountain shoes for trekking and hiking with ankle fixation. Do not forget about altitude sickness and the need for acclimatization in a mountainous area for a further comfortable stay in the mountains. Also in the spring (May) there are ticks in the mountains, we recommend not visiting the mountains during this period.
