Peak Vodolaz (mountain hike and route)

Guide to the mountains of Almaty region within the city of Almaty -

Mountain trails and routes in the mountains of Almaty -

Peak Vodolaz (Diver) is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 3840 meters above sea level on an interesting mountain route in the Zailiyskiy Alatau Mountains. The peak is very popular among fans of active recreation and hiking in the mountains, as it is located between two other famous peaks, Peak Malysh and Peak Kosmonavt. In one hike, three peaks are visited at once, since the distance between the peaks is 500 meters between each peak. The ascent begins from the glaciological station Tuyuk-Su T1, which can be reached on foot or by car from the high-mountain base Shymbulak. From the station, they climb Peak Malysh, then along the mountain ridge go to Peak Vodolaz and then to Peak Kosmonavt. When you move along the ridge between the peaks, observe safety precautions and be extremely careful and cautious. The path between the peaks is not easy at all and requires good physical fitness and skill. From the top of the mountain, a beautiful mountain panorama opens up to such natural attractions as the Molodezhny Pass, Molodezhny Peak and Sovetov Peak. We recommend climbing all three peaks in the summer, when there is a minimum amount of snow on the mountain slopes.

How to get there and visit -

Vodolaz Peak (Diver) is located in the Ile-Alatau Mountain Park in the upper reaches of the Small Almaty Gorge, on a mountain ridge that divides the Small Almaty River valley and the Kumbelsu River valley, Medeu District, Almaty Region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

Properly calculate your physical strength for staying in the mountains, if you feel unwell, know how to stop and turn back in time, inform the mountain guide about your condition. Watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. During the hike, always stay in a group so that everyone is always in sight of each other, always wait for those who lag behind. Do not walk in the mountains at night and in the dark. Properly calculate your time in the mountains, try to return in the afternoon before dusk and complete darkness, be sure to consult with mountain guides about this. For hiking in the mountains, use special sportswear and equipment. Do not go to the mountains in flip-flops, slippers and light soft shoes, take care of your feet, your feet should be protected by reliable mountain shoes for trekking and hiking with ankle fixation. Do not forget about mountain sickness and the need for acclimatization in a mountainous area for a further comfortable stay in the mountains. Also in the spring (May) there are ticks in the mountains, we recommend not visiting the mountains during this period.
