Panfilov Pedestrian Street in Almaty

Where to go for a walk in Almaty -

Evening walk through Almaty at night -

Panfilov pedestrian Street in Almaty is one of the most beloved and cozy places of recreation for citizens and guests of the southern capital. It is located in the heart of the city in its central old part and connects important cultural and historical points. The street is named after the legendary General Ivan Panfilov, hero of the Great Patriotic War, commander of the 316th Infantry Division, whose soldiers became famous for the heroic defense of Moscow and to whom the park of 28 Panfilov Guards is dedicated, which is located nearby. The symbolism of the name makes this place not just a walking area, but a kind of reminder of heroism and perseverance. The pedestrian part of the street starts from Kabanbai Batyr Street and ends at Zhibek Zholy Avenue (Almaty Arbat).

Panfilov Street acquired its modern look after a large-scale reconstruction: the roadway was completely closed to cars, and now it is a pedestrian boulevard decorated with lanterns, benches, green spaces and art objects. Walking here, you can feel the European spirit of the city, where the space is created for people, communication and leisurely walks. Retro-style lanterns cast a soft glow on benches where townspeople read books or just watch life. In summer, the street turns into an open–air art gallery - local craftsmen exhibit paintings, ceramics and handmade jewelry, and in winter garlands are lit here, creating a festive atmosphere.

Information -

Panfilov Street is particularly charming because of the historical buildings lining it: ancient buildings from the early 20th century are adjacent to modern cafes, restaurants and shops. Street concerts, festivals, art exhibitions are often held here, and live music is played in the evenings. In the warmer months, this place literally comes to life: children laugh, young people ride bicycles and scooters, tourists take photos against the backdrop of vibrant urban landscapes.

Walking along Panfilova Street, you should definitely look into cozy coffee shops and craft shops, where you can feel the unique spirit of Almaty. For the citizens, the street has become a symbol of openness, freedom and cultural life, and for the guests of the city, it is the hallmark of the southern capital.

Panfilov Pedestrian Street is not just a walking path, but a living artery of Almaty, where the past meets the present, where history coexists with modernity, creating an atmosphere of harmony and inspiration.
