Information -

Today, Zhibek Zholy Street (Almaty Arbat) is a modern pedestrian promenade where history and shopping traditions coexist with the rhythm of urban life. There is no car traffic here: the street is completely devoted to people, walks, art and recreation. The atmosphere of the street seems to invite you to stroll along its spacious alley, decorated with trees, flower beds, decorative lanterns and benches, where you can sit and enjoy the urban flavor. The special flavor of the street is created by street musicians, artists and masters of decorative and applied arts, who turn a walk into a lively journey through the culture of Almaty. Fairs, festivals, art exhibitions and festive events are often held here, which makes the street a real outdoor scene.

Historically, Zhibek Zholy has been and remains the "heart of trade" in Almaty. Since Soviet times, Kalinin Street was named after Kalinin and was considered the main shopping center: the city's most famous shops, ranging from department stores to small shops, were located here. Today, modern boutiques, cozy coffee shops, restaurants, souvenir shops, as well as shops that preserve the spirit of the old city are located on both sides of the street. Walking along Zhibek Zholy, you can not only enjoy the atmosphere, but also see the architectural heritage: ancient buildings of the Soviet era have been preserved nearby, complemented by modern buildings. The street has become a place where history and modernity harmoniously intertwine, and its very spirit reminds of the ancient caravan route, when bazaars running from East to West were noisy here.

Today, Zhibek Zholy is more than a shopping street. This is a cultural space, the hallmark of Almaty, where everyone will find something of their own: whether it's shopping, gastronomic pleasure, creative inspiration or just a walk in the city center.
