SSU Peak (Sverdlovsk State University) is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 4522 meters above sea level in the upper reaches of the Left Talgar gorge, belongs to the Small Almaty Mountain spur and the valley of the Tourists River. Near the peak at its foot is the famous Tourists Lake. The peak is very popular among climbers and lovers of multi-day hikes in the mountains. The difficulty category of the route to the mountain is 1B and starts from the valley of the Left Talgar River, through the Big Talgar Pass. You can get to the pass from the Medeo tract by the Medeo-Chimbulak cable car. Usually, climbing SSU Peak takes from 3 to 6 days, depending on the route you choose and its duration. There is also a second route from the Big Almaty Gorge along the Ozernaya River and further through the Tourists Pass. The mountain is located on the famous mountain route "Almaty Around the World", so it is climbed when going along this route, but in this case the journey becomes longer in days, since the ascent requires at least one or two days only to climb the mountain. From the top of the mountain, a beautiful mountain panorama opens up to the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains, the peak Soviet Alpinists and the peak Young Guard.

The peak of the State Sverdlovsk University (SSU) is located in the Zailiysky Alatau mountains in the area of the Tourists Pass, between the Dmitrieva Glacier and the Tourists Glacier, Talgar District, Medeu District, Almaty Region, Republic of Kazakhstan.
