A walk through the parks and squares of Almaty -
Where to sit by the fountain in Alma Ata Park -
The square near the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater is a picturesque oasis in the very center of Almaty, where the harmony of nature and the greatness of art meet. It seems to have been created to complement the atmosphere of the theater: a walk here before or after the performance turns into a special ritual that fills the soul with peace and inspiration. The territory of the park is surrounded by greenery: sprawling trees provide cool shade on hot summer days, flower beds decorate the space with a bright carpet of flowers, and neatly laid alleys lead directly to the majestic theater building. The square surrounds the theater on both sides, benches set along the paths invite you to relax – here you can read a book, talk with friends or just enjoy the view of the architectural masterpiece. In this square, next to the theater, there is the Nedelka fountain directly opposite the Almaty Hotel. There is also a pedestrian Panfilov Street nearby, along which you can go down to Astana Square, next to which there is also a beautiful square and fountains.
The square also has cultural significance. Open events, meetings of citizens, and open-air concerts are often held here. The proximity to the theater gives this place a special energy: the air seems to be saturated with creativity and the spirit of art. The square is especially beautiful in the evening. The lighting of the theater is reflected in the crowns of the trees, and the warm light of the lanterns creates an atmosphere of comfort and romance. For many residents and visitors of the city, this is one of the favorite places to walk in the center of Almaty.
