Tuyuksu Pass is a mountain pass located at an altitude of 4100 meters above sea level in the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains, the difficulty category of the route to the pass is 1B. The pass is very popular among climbers, lovers of outdoor activities and hiking in the mountains, as it is located on the famous mountain route. The pass separates two peaks that can be climbed from the pass - Tuyuksu Peak and Pogrebetsky Peak. The route to the pass starts from the high-mountain station Tuyuk-Su T1 and goes along the Tuyuksu glacier, usually such a trip takes two days. From the pass, a beautiful mountain panorama opens up to such natural attractions as the Left Talgar Gorge and Ordzhonikidze Peak.
The starting point of the hike to the Tuyuksu Pass is most often the Small Almaty Gorge. Then the path passes through the "Tuyuk-Su alpine camp", which serves as a base for many climbers. After the alpine camp, the route ascends through moraine fields, snow areas and rock slides, requiring good physical preparation. The ascent to the pass takes from 6 to 9 hours, depending on experience and weather conditions. In winter, special mountaineering equipment is required, as the route can be covered with ice and snow. In the summer season, the trip is more comfortable, but still requires endurance and preparation.

When planning a trip, remember that the mountains require respect and preparation, but in return they give incredible emotions and a sense of freedom. The name "Tuyuksu" is translated from Kazakh as "closed water", which reflects its geographical feature - the pass is surrounded by high mountains. In Soviet times, mountaineering was actively developing here, and to this day Tuyuksu remains an important center for training athletes and holding competitions.
The road to the Tuyuksu Pass is very picturesque, it starts from the Medeo tract, where the Medeo high-mountain skating rink is located, which operates in the winter. From the tract, the Medeo-Chimbulak cable car leads up, which can take you to the high-mountain base and station Shymbulak and further to the Big Talgar pass. In winter, there is a ski slope here. From the Shymbulak base, along the valley of the Small Almaty River, there is a road up to the Tuyuksu pass through the Mynzhilky tract, the Tuyuk-Su gate tract and the Tuyuksu T1 glaciological station.
