Peak Yuny Geolog (Young Geologist) is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 3200 meters above sea level, the peak is little known, but is popular among outdoor enthusiasts and collectors of hikes to mountain peaks within the city of Almaty. The peak is difficult to access, the route to it requires good physical fitness, the distance to the peak in both directions is 25 kilometers, it is best to go to it in the summer so that there is no snow on the trail. The ascent to the peak Yuny Geolog begins from the mountain tract Kok-Zhailyau, which can be reached on foot, from the Big Almaty gorge through the Kazachka (Teristbutak) gorge and from the Small Almaty gorge through the Prosveshchenets stop. From the top of the peak, a beautiful mountain panorama opens up to the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains and the valley of the Big Almaty River, which flows through the Bolshoy Almaty Gorge. Also, from the top, you can clearly see Ozerny Peak, Sovetov Peak, Molodezhny Peak, Tourist Peak and Big Almaty Peak, which is located next to the Dzhusaly-Kezen Pass, where the Cosmostation is located. We recommend descending from the peak along the ascent route.

Young Geolog Peak is located in the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountains in the Terisbutak ridge between the Kumbelsu Gorge and the Kazachka (Terisbutak) Gorge, Ile-Alatau National Park, Almaty Nature Reserve, Almaty Region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

When hiking to the Young Geologist peak, be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides. Mountain guides will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely lead you along the route. Do not hike alone, do not leave the trail, do not go close to rocky cliffs, snow cornices and turbulent rivers. Watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. During the hike, always stay in a group so that everyone is always in sight of each other, always wait for those who lag behind. Do not hike in the mountains at night or in the dark. Calculate your time in the mountains wisely, try to return in the afternoon before dusk and complete darkness, be sure to consult with mountain guides about this. For hiking in the mountains, use special sportswear and equipment. Do not go to the mountains in flip-flops, slippers and light soft shoes, take care of your feet, your feet should be protected by reliable mountain shoes for trekking and hiking with ankle fixation. Do not forget about mountain sickness and the need for acclimatization in a mountainous area for a further comfortable stay in the mountains. Also in the spring (May) there are ticks in the mountains, we recommend not visiting the mountains during this period.
