One of the largest and most beautiful landscape ensembles of the capital -
A unique natural complex in the shape of the mythical Samruk bird in Kazakhstan -
Presidential Park is the gem of the Saraishyk district in Astana, spreading over an impressive area of 830 thousand square meters. Located around the famous Pyramid – the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation – this park has become a favorite vacation spot for citizens and guests of the capital.
From a bird's-eye view, the park's territory represents a unique artistic composition, the outlines of which exactly repeat the image of the mythical Samruk bird, symbolizing the independence and eternal rebirth of Kazakhstan.
The park acts as a link between the key architectural landmarks of the left bank, including the Ak Orda Residence and the Hazret Sultan Mosque. Artificial streams, cascading fountains, and multi-level terraces harmoniously combine here, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
The well-thought-out infrastructure and proximity to the Ishim River turn the park into an ideal space for both solitary nature contemplation and active pastime in the heart of a modern metropolis.

History
The design of Presidential Park began immediately after the completion of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation and the Ak Orda Residence. The official opening took place in 2007 and was timed to a landmark event – the 10th anniversary of moving the capital from Alma-Ata. Over the years of its existence, the park has become an integral part of the city's ecological framework, constantly developing and being supplemented with new landscape solutions and recreation areas.
In 2020, a large-scale project started to unite Presidential Park, Triathlon Park, and the Ishim River embankment into a single continuous green zone. During the reconstruction, which ended in May 2021, new thematic areas were created on the territory, an observation deck was opened, and a unique lilac garden was planted. Today, the park continues to transform into a modern space where each zone is dedicated to a certain season, while maintaining its historical and cultural significance.
Information
The central object of the park is a majestic fountain in the shape of the Samruk bird, whose head is directed towards the Pyramid, and whose tail touches the waters of the Ishim River. Thousands of trees adapted to the steppe climate are planted on the territory: pines, spruces, birches, and Canadian maples.
Infrastructure includes a network of bike paths, running tracks, and straight paths for fans of rollers and skates. "Smart" benches with photocells are installed in the park, allowing mobile devices to be charged from solar energy.
Playgrounds with trampolines and electric car rentals are equipped for children. Cozy gravel paths are laid along artificial canals, and intricate tunnels made of decorative plants have been created.
The park is crossed by two pedestrian bridges – "Arkhar" and "Arys", connecting different parts of the recreational area. There is also a summer stage on the territory, where concerts and cultural festivals take place on holidays.
Detailed description of the object
The internal space of the park is organized on the terrace principle, which opens up magnificent views of the river and the government quarter. Walking alleys lead guests through cascades of fountains and numerous flower beds, the aroma of which fills the air in summer.
A special atmosphere of comfort is created by artificial streams with stone rapids, along which gazebos and benches for rest are placed. The observation deck allows you to appreciate the scale of the park and see that very drawing of a flying bird laid out in the planning.
The Ishim River embankment area is a point of attraction for fans of grass picnics and evening walks. Artistic lighting of the Samruk fountain and bridges at night turns the park into a futuristic setting.
Here you can meet both professional athletes and artists seeking inspiration in the reflection of the Pyramid in the mirror-like surface of the water. Presidential Park is a harmonious synthesis of nature and innovations, which has become the true "green heart" of Astana.
Architecture
The architectural solution of the park is based on strict symmetry and visual connection with the surrounding buildings. The main axis of the park connects the Ak Orda Residence with the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, passing through the central fountain. The use of granite in the finishing of steps and parapets emphasizes the monumentality of the complex.
The shape of the Samruk fountain is made with high detail, where water jets imitate the feathers of the wings of the mythical bird. The entire ensemble is designed so that the architecture of the park complements the grandiose forms of the Pyramid.
Legend
Among Astana residents, there is a legend that Presidential Park is a place where luck itself rests. They say that the Samruk bird, having spread its wings over this territory, brings prosperity to everyone who touches the water in the central fountain at sunset.
Couples in love believe that walking through the lilac garden during its blooming period strengthens feelings for many years.
It is believed that the layout of the park in the shape of a sacred bird creates a special energy protection for the city, and the quiet whisper of artificial streams is the voice of the ancient steppe blessing the new capital.
Visiting the park is called "walking under the wing of Samruk," where everyone can find their inspiration and feel the inextricable link between the legends of the past and the ambitions of the future. This is a place of power where nature and human dreams have merged into one, turning a wasteland into a blooming garden.
